Folex International: Europe’s leader in bespoke display manufacturing

Founded in January 1995, Folex International has consistently invested in production innovation and, 26 years later, is the leading manufacturer of handboards in Europe.

The owners, the Ferriol family, started this business in Valencia having identified an opportunity to assist the local hub of Spanish ceramic tile manufacturers to promote and display their products.

Folex first began exporting its tile boards into the UK market in 1998.  They quickly became popular as retailers and distributors learnt to appreciate that Folex boards, made from MDF, could be manufactured to be compatible to the size of product being sold, and also featured a paper cover with a laminated finish that offered colour accuracy plus the ability to add logos, text or photographs.  This system quietly revolutionised the marketing of ceramic tiles.  

Folex boasts a specialist printing company, Tonos, as a sister company.  This means they can offer clients boards with detailed photo setting of particular tile ranges.  In addition, the company also has the facility to produce sample wallets, cards, architectural folders, brochures, PoS display and other marketing materials.  In addition, as part of its aim to be a one-stop-shop for display services, Folex also manufacture cradles and donkeys.  This aspect of the business has grown significantly over the past 15 years or so. Over the last 2 years Folex International have established a joint venture with an Italian display stand manufacturer enabling us to offer more bespoke cradles and stands.

Folex International besides being the major producer of MDF sample boards for the ceramic tile industry also produce many other marketing tools to help the sale and promotion of ceramic and porcelain tiles.

Architects and designers are major specifiers of ceramic and porcelain tiles and often they require a different form of display to that provided by the use of sample boards.  Folex International caters for this market by offering bespoke sample wallets.  These can be made to a size and design stipulated by the client, or created by Folex’s in-house design team.  This form of sampling can be very beneficial in the specification market as architects and designers are not in a position to hold numerous sample boards.  By providing sample pieces inserted into foam on a specially-designed A4 cardboard wallet, they can be stored in a library for easy reference as needed.

Another area of expertise for Folex is the production of brochures or leaflets, again printed to the client’s specification or created by the in-house design team.

Whatever the display product required, Folex prides itself on offering extremely competitive pricing on all forms of marketing material for the ceramic and porcelain industry.

Currently, Folex International are experiencing increased demand for MDF picture boards due to the growth of larger format ceramic and porcelain tiles.  These picture boards allow the retailer or distributor to show just how these XXL tiles will look whether in a kitchen, bathroom, or commercial situation; essential when the tiles are just too large to be displayed as individual tiles or room sets.

Although picture boards are such an effective way of marketing larger format ceramic and porcelain tiles, they equally benefit any size of ceramic or porcelain wall or floor tile, by giving the end user a clear idea of how the tiles will look in-situ.  As the saying goes “Every picture tells a story” and Folex has the experience and technology to allow clients to benefit to the full.

But while this production expertise is important, Folex’s success is equally down to its unsurpassed customer service.  This family-run business genuinely cares about its clients, so the dedicated team in Spain works hard to ensure that the service, quality, and punctuality of orders more than satisfies the client.  So, while standard lead times from receipt of order to delivery of the bespoke printed boards, Folex will strain every sinew to improve on this lead times where time is critical.
